Meet No Secrets

StarShine is very happy to present to you, Jive Records hot new girl group, No Secrets! We first met up with the girls back in June at their album release party in New York City. The party was open to select fans. Some of which were invited through the street team of fellow labelmate/tourmate, Aaron Carter. The party was hosted by Z100 DJs, Greg T and Skeery. If free food, contests and giveaways weren't enough to entertain their guests, No Secrets performed several songs off their self-titled debut album, danced with the crowd and signed tons of autographs!
The next time we saw the girls, it was over three months later as well as one hit single and a bunch of success later. They landed a spot on Aaron Carter's Rock, Rap & Retro tour for the entire summer! The girls' first big gig was actually singing backup on "Oh Aaron" and even appeared in the video. On the tour, they were far from Aaron's backup vocalists though. They were the ones warming up the crowd for him and they did an amazing job of it too!
Besides touring, No Secrets got a taste of success with "Kids In America", which was featured on the soundtrack for the Nickelodeon movie, "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius". More success followed with their most popular hit, "That's What Girls Do" which was not only featured in the "Power Puff Girls" movie, but has topped the charts on both Radio Disney and Nickelodeon!
The last time we saw Erin, Carly, Jade, Angel & Jessica was at Planet Hollywood a few weeks to commemorate a very special day in their lives. No Secrets went to #1 on Billboard Magazine's Heatseekers charts! Congratulations to them! The girls were presented with a plaque and gave a little impromptu a capella performance of "I Will Remember You".

Before the show we visited No Secrets on their tour bus to get to ask them some things on both a personal and professional level. Unfortunately, pictures weren't permitted since the girls weren't quite finished getting ready. None the less, they looked adorable and were just as charming!
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Thank you guys for talking with me today. So far on this tour, how is the response from the crowd?
Jessica Fried: Really, really good response so far. Um, the kids-most of the audience I think recognizes us either from "Oh Aaron" you know orâ¦
Jade & Angel: Jimmy Neutron.
Jessica: Yeah and Power Puff Girls soâ¦really good response so far.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Good. What's your favorite city so far? Maybe each of you could say one. Angel?
Angel Faith: Umâ¦I don't know. I don'tâ¦[thinks] I guess New York. New York's fun.
No Secrets: Yeah.
Jade Ryusaki: I was going to say the same thing. Um, our first show was really fun.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Which city was that?
Jade: Uh, Tennessee. Nashville.
Carly Lewis: Oh man. Ummmâ¦I love New York City so I'm going to have to say New York City too.
Jessica: Yeah, we don't really get to see too much of it when we're there.
Carly: Yeah.
Jessica: So umâ¦ohâ¦I really don't knowâ¦[thinks] maybeâ¦[Erin whispers some cities to her.] Columbus, Ohio. [laughs]
Erin Tanner: I liked Virginia Beach. That was really nice.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Has there been any embarrassing or funny moments on the tour yet?
Jessica: There have been A LOT!
Carly: I'm sureâ¦Yeah. [Everyone laughs.]
Angel: There was one time when we were getting food. I remember Jade and I were going to get food and we were wearing skirts like this⦠[points to her stylish denim skirt] and there was like this big fan and I remember the fan blew my skirt! And it just went like right up and nobody saw, but it just went up and then swept back down. [laughs]
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Well at least no one saw. Any other moments anyone wants to share?
Carly: I can't think of any. We have fun moments though.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Anyone want to share any of those?
Angel: Oh we party every night on our bus.
Jessica: We dance!
Carly: Yeah, we put on like Nellyville or N.E.R.D.
Jessica: And the bus moves a lot so like everyone's fallingâ¦
Carly: Yeah!
Jessica: Our manager likes to make a soul train down the aisle. [Everyone laughs.]
Carly: Like put Britney [Spears] on and we'll start doing the soul train even down this little tiny aisle.
Jessica: It's fun though.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Let's seeâ¦How is your relationship with the other acts on this tour?
Angel: Triple Image are like our little sisters. [Everyone agrees.]
Carly: They're so cool.
Jessica: Jump 5 is really, really sweet too.
Angel: They're all really cool.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): How about Aaron?
Angel: And Aaron of courseâ¦
Jessica: He's down to earth, you know and he's a funny guy.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Now "That's What Girls Do" has so much success on Radio Disney and Nickelodeon. What does that feel like? Is it still like surreal orâ¦
Angel: I don't think we even realize.
Jade: Noâ¦
Angel: At all. [laughs]
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): It's not even fazing you yet?
Jade: I can't believe people know like our songs.
Carly: Yeah, like when we're up singing it and we can hear them from the audienceâ¦it's just like "wow!" You know it's just like incredible.
Jessica: Yeah, like last night the entire-we were in New Jersey and that was a pretty big audience. It was a huge audience and they were singing and you could hearâ¦
Jade: It's weird.
Angel: It kinda still feels to us that like it's not out yet. Nobody knows that it's there, but surprisingly people do.
Jade: Like even when you go in CD stores and you're like "Do you have No Secrets?" They're like "Oh they're the ones that sing 'That's What Girls Do' right?" and we're like, "Yeahâ¦" Like my friends tell me that they ask that and like people that work in the stores know what song it is.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): It must be fun to gradually see the success.
Jade: Yeah.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): While recording your debut album, did you argue over which parts you sang or anything like that?
No Secrets: No.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Did your producers decide it?
No Secrets: Yeah.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): What's your favorite song off your album?
No Secrets: "Hot"!
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): That's my favorite too! [Everyone laughs.]
Jessica: It's so much fun! We love that song.
Jade: And the song was written for us. It was like about us.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Yeah. I remember Jive sent me over a CD sampler kind of thing and I listened to it and I was like "I love this song!" It reminds me of just hanging out.
Angel: It was a lot of fun to record.
Carly: Yeah, we had A LOT of fun recording it.
Angel: Because there's a lot of attitude.
Jessica: Also we got to put in A LOT of input.
Carly: We're ALL on that song.
Angel: A lot of ad-libbing.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Yeah, a just being girls kind of thing. Do you have a celebrity crush on anyone?
Jessica: Oh we can go down the line for this⦠[Everyone laughs and agrees.]
Angel: Um, I like Justin Timberlake.
Jade: Brad Pitt.
Carly: No! That's who I was going to pick! [Everyone laughs.] Well, if not Brad Pittâ¦um, Shane West is really cute in "A Walk To Remember".
Jessica: I have a crush on Freddie Prinze Jr. and also Josh Hartnet in "Pearl Harbor".
Carly: Oh he's cute too. [Looks over at their bus driver.] And Bob, our bus driver, he's really cute! [We all laugh.]
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Erin?
Erin: I like Eminem.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): So now there's five girls and one tour bus and one bathroom. How do you deal with that? [laughs]
Carly: We can make funny noisesâ¦
Angel: We can barely use the bathroom anyway.
Carly: We're not really allowed to use it for bathroom because we don't want to have a smell when we're like sleeping. [laughs]
Jade: It's for emergencies only and it's only to tinkle--
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): What about getting ready? Is that a problem?
Jessica: Oh getting ready, we're usually in the hotel.
Carly: And there's mirrors everywhere so we justâ¦
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): [looking back toward Jade] What were you going to say about tinkling? [laughs]
Jade: Oh, only tinkle if you have to likeâ¦
Carly: No number 2's. Number 2's you have to do before we get on the bus or when we stop.
Angel: Carly goes a little too much. [Everyone cracks up laughing.]
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Since you guys are always around each other now, do you notice any bad habits that really annoy you about each other?
Carly: You know what, I have to say thisâ¦we all act like sisters now. Like we have all gotten so close. It's ridiculousâ¦
Jessica: Like our fighting isn't even fighting anymore. It's like sisterly typeâ¦
Jade: It's like over like closet spaceâ¦
Carly: Like you have my lip-gloss or my rollerâ¦like silly little things like that. "That's my brush! You took my brush!"
Jade: I don't think we have really even gotten into any fightsâ¦
Carly: No, we haven't gotten into any big fights.
Jessica: They're just little tiny things and we'll get over them like that.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Anyone else want to add to that? Angel or Erin?
Erin: What they said. [laughs]
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): If you could bring one person, one movie and one food on a deserted island, what and who would you bring?
[They all repeat the question over to themselves, making sure they got it right.]
Angel: Wait, go down this way. [motioning to the other side so she would have more time to think.]
Erin: No, go down that way. [motioning back to where Angel was sitting. Everyone laughs.]
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): All right, let's start with Carly.
Carly: Oh noâ¦um, one personâ¦just like a celebrity or someone I know?
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Just anyone you want.
Jade: For how many days?
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Say three.
Jade: Okay.
Carly: Well, Brad Pitt's a married man. [laughs] Shane West and one item of foodâ¦not pizzaâ¦chicken! Andâ¦
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): You're really putting a lot of thought into this. [laughs]
Carly: One movieâ¦
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): "A Walk To Remember" so you can watch it with Shane? [The girls laugh.]
Carly: Yeahâ¦no because then I'd be jealous of Mandy Moore. Um, one movie. Oh no. I love "A Walk To Remember", but I can't watch that with him.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): You can watch it when you get home.
Carly: Um, ahh!
Jessica: Hurry!
Carly: "A Walk To Remember". I'll just say "A Walk To Remember".
Jessica: Okay, I'm going to go next because I've got my mindset. Okay, I would bring for a movie--I would bring "Castaway" so I could watch it for survival tips. [laughs] Food--I would bringâ¦have you ever been to CPK?
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): No. I'm from New York so we don't have it.
Jessica: I would bring the brownie sundaes from thereâ¦
Carly: That's not a food. I would have said chocolate.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): It might melt though.
Jessica: And I'd bring my mom.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Aww. Okay Erin, you ready?
Erin: [laughs] For a movie I would bringâ¦what movie would I bring? [Some of the other girls mumble movie titles.]
Carly: She likes those movies.
Angel: We watch a lot of like gory, old, scary movies.
Erin: I wouldn't bring a scary movie to a deserted island. I would bring "Crossroads". Britney's movie. [The girls laugh.]
Carly: She loves Britney!
Angel: And she'd bring Britney with her! [laughs] She's like "I'd bring Britney and her movie".
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): And her favorite food. [Everyone laughs more.]
Erin: And foodâ¦I would bring Mexican food and-
Jessica: Any Mexican food?
Erin: Yeah. All of it. And um, I'd bring my sister.
No Secrets: Aww! [looks over at Erin's sister who sitting in the kitchen area of the bus]
Angel: She said she'd bring you!
Erin's Sister: What are we watching? [We all laugh]
Erin: "Crossroads".
Erin's Sister: And what are we eating?
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Mexican food.
Erin's Sister: Ohh⦠[laughs]
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): I hope you don't have a tour bus bathroom. [Everyone laughs.]
Angel: I would bring the movieâ¦"Happy Gilmore" to get my mind off being stuck on a deserted island. And I would bring my best friend Allie and I would bring pizza.
Jade: I'd bring my grandmaâ¦and I'd bring the movie, "Beaches" because she likes Bette Midler.
Erin's Sister: [laughs] You liar!
Jade: No, she does. She loves her. [The girls continue to make fun of Jade for liking Bette Midler] And let's seeâ¦shut upâ¦and a foodâ¦um, I'd bring her chocolate cakeâ¦that my grandmother makes.
Carly: You know what? I'd rather change the guy instead because like if they can be familyâ¦I'd rather bring Carlette to watch "A Walk To Remember" with me.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Is Carlette your sister?
Carly: Best friend.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Okay so back to your music. Have you thought about another single?
Jessica: Yeah, we have been considering a few of our songs.
Angel: We have like two or three that are most likelyâ¦
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Is "Hot" one of them?
Jessica: Not for our next single, but-
Angel: We're thinking about a ballad. So "I'll Remember You" or maybe "Skin Deep". We're not sure.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Which one do you want?
Jessica: We like both of them.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): What are your plans after this tour is over?
Jessica: Um, actually we have a lot of stuff that's lined up possibly. [laughs]
Carly: More tours.
Jessica: We're definitely doing Wal-Mart [tours] all yearâ¦on and off.
Angel: We might be doing a Disney tour. A cruise and a tour. We're definitely going to be touring and then we heard something about like going to Asia sometime this year.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): That must be exciting for you guys. And finally, is there anything you'd like to say to your fans?
Carly: Thank you so much for listening to our album and everything!
Jessica: And we can't believe all the support.
Angel: Yeah, thank you.
